Visitors come to the Barn to enjoy a bit of peace hidden away on the edge of a conservation village surrounded by rural countryside. This listed building has been converted into a simple but comfortable self-catering holiday cottage for two people. The living area is one large open-plan room, with separate kitchen and shower room. The sleeping area is above on a raised mezzanine floor. Parking is off street and close to the property.
Relax
The morning sun floods the spacious living area where there are sofas, chairs and an eating area. T.V free but WiFi and a collection of books and puzzles. Oil-fired Central heating keeps the building snug with old-fashioned radiators throughout. Coats and boots can be dried in the small boiler room.
Eat
The comfortable dining area is at one end of the living area, close to the kitchen.
Sleep
Enjoy a comfy nights sleep in the twin/king bed in the sleeping area raised above. Linen is provided and extra bedding available for additional guests on the sofa-beds if required. Chest of drawers, chairs and bedside tables with lamps.
Cook
The kitchen is separate and well equiped with all the usual implements needed for cooking. Electric Cooker, microwave and washing machine. Outdoor BBQ.
Shower
A well lit room with WC, washbasin, shower and heated towel rail. Towels provided
Garden
Visitors and their dogs can enjoy the good sized garden which is private and fenced-in. Mown lawn with mature walnut & beech trees, some shrubs and climbers. A table and chairs, provide the perfect place to sit and take in the lovely view over the Nar valley. At night listen to the owls.

Founded shortly after the Battle of Hastings, this is a superb and well-preserved example of a motte-and-bailey castle, and remains one of the most impressive Norman earthworks in the country. Access is free.
The main thoroughfare passes through the Bailey Gate, a stone gatehouse added to the settlement's massive earthwork defences in about 1200.
The fine church consists of a nave with aisles, a chancel which is overlapped by the east end of the north aisle to form the Lady Chapel, a sacristy east of this chapel, a north porch, and a sturdy tower. Lower panels of the Rood screen are from about 1440, the pulpit on a wineglass stem is of a similar age and a plain ribbed hexagonal font is surmounted by a 15C towering font cover,
Castle Acre is almost half way along the long distance national trail of the Peddars Way, 46 miles from near Thetford to Holme-next-the-Sea. Also the Nar Valley Way, 34 miles from
Gressenhall to King's Lynn.
There is a 6 mile circular walk around the outskirts of the village or you can walk along the River Nar to Westacre.
Swaffham is a market town 3 miles away. The Market and Auction are held every Saturday.

Waitrose and Tesco along the Castle Acre Road
The unspoilt North Norfolk coast is just 40 minutes away where you can enjoy the beaches, birdwatching, and seals.
Historic Houses include Blickling, Felbrigg, Houghton Hall, Sandringham and Oxburgh Hall.
Tudor Lodgings garden will be opening for the National Garden Scheme on Sunday 21st July. There are plenty of lovely gardens to visit in Norfolk.
